Blink 182

Blink 182 is a San Deigo based pop punk band that has recentley been shot into the mainstream music scene. The Blink legend began in 1991, when Mark Hoppus's sister introduced him to the, then 14 year old, Tom Delonge. After a few years of moving around the US, Hoppus settled in San Deiago. At the time he met Delonge, Mark had just dropped out of college. After the boys recognized their similar interests in tunes about life, girls, and poop..they joined forces to create a band. After the addition of aspiring drummer Scott Raynor, the called themselves 'Blink' and began playing clubs in and around the San Deiago area. While playing, Blink befriended the Orange County punk band 'The Vandels' whose tiny label Kung Fu released their cassette only debut recording 'Buddha' in '94. Less then a year later they caught the attention of Cargo Records and realeased Cheshire Cat off that label. Their growing popularity as a live act led MCA to sign them in '96. After changing their name (a retarded irish band had dibs on 'Blink'), they settled on Blink 182 and released their major record label debut 'Dude Ranch' in '97. Soon "Dammit" their first single off the album was one of the 5 most played songs on key radio stations. They began headlining with bands like Unwritten Law and Less Than Jake. In June of 99, after a departure from Scott Raynor and the addition of former Aquabats drummer Travis Barker, they released Enema of The State. And you know the rest.
